We first met the Kidds at WPPI last year through Troy Grover (whom we also featured in a Photograper Profile!) and we were immediately smitten by this incredibly talented and good-looking pair.But as soon as that turns to discouragement, you need to stop and focus on your own unique talents.By the time I was ready to make photography my full time career, Kristin and I had rekindled our friendship and began shooting together. BK: I think the hardest thing for anyone self employed is the day-to-day challenges that comes with being an entrepreneur- especially trying to balance your personal life with your work.Seven years later and we’re still able to do what we love together. With photography specifically, I feel the most difficult challenge is staying relevant and inspiring while staying true to yourself.I was lucky enough to travel and see a lot of the world growing up and I quickly realized that photography was a way for me to hold on to a piece of each place I traveled to. I feel most fulfilled creatively when I have the freedom to craft genuine and authentic portraits.I found myself constantly shooting, which eventually led to shooting my first wedding at 19 years old. It is usually paired with a 50mm 1.2L or an 85mm 1.2L. It might sound cliché but over the last nine years I’ve had the privilege of working with some truly amazing people and projects that I feel I am already living my ‘dream project’ by finding so much fulfillment and satisfaction in a career that I can be passionate about. ONA: What is the hardest thing about being a photographer?They’re passionately in love: with each other, with their craft, with the business that they’ve built of capturing the love and beauty in the world. In such a creative industry it’s easy to compare yourself to other artists.Instead of allowing it to discourage you, you can use other’s creativity to grow and strengthen your own abilities.
