She is survived by two sons, Joe Hicks and his wife, Sandra of Malvern, and Larry Hicks of North Little Rock; by a step-daughter, Alma Walker of Malvern; by a brother, Glenn Cunningham of Apple Valley, California; by a sister, Lola Kidd of Malvern; by seven grandchildren, Michelle Carnahan, Rachel Inmon, Lawrence (Tripp) Hicks, III, Krista Sebourn, Jace Helms, Joseph Hicks, Jr., Diane Austin; by three step-grandchildren; by six great-grandchildren, and by three great-great-grandchildren.
Lou was also preceded in death by two daughters, Belva Jean Hicks and Sarah Helms, two brothers, John Cunningham and William “Dick” Cunningham, and by three sisters, Ruby Lee Bankson, Gladys Schakel, and Opal Ragland.
Her funeral will be two o’clock Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2014 in the chapel of J. Funk Funeral Home with Bryan Braswell, Edgar Simmons, Ed Hollingsworth, and Pat Greer speaking. Pallbearers are: Charlie, Mike and Jason Hollingsworth, Dan Gilliam, Billy Beck, Adam Roberts, Reed Roberts, and Warren Spillman.

He was born on December 17, 1952 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Dora Erhard Adams and the late Clarence Howard Adams.
The Means and Noble families have been a part of this local area for well over 150 years and included several doctors, judges, and lawyers in Hot Spring County and Arkansas. Abbott was educated in the Malvern Public Schools, graduating in the Class of 1922. She is survived by one grandson, Mark Abbott of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; by one granddaughter, Susan Reid of Dickinson, Texas; by five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alan Abbott, and Valerie, Lauren, and Katelyn Reid; and by several nieces and nephews, including Virginia Abbott Robertson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Adams Simmons (the late Bill Simmons), and Sherri Adams Hollingsworth (Ed), all of Malvern; grandchildren, Dana Hill (Lloyd), Jackie Beck (Stanley), Charlie Hollingsworth (Sarah), Mike Hollingsworth (Katie), and Jason Hollingsworth (Kelsey); 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Jerry Wilson of Longview, Texas, her dear friends Pat Simmons and Pearl Darrow Rogers, and many nieces and nephews.
The child of a railroad man, he received his early education in many different places, due to his family’s frequent moves up and down the railroad line.
He graduated high school at Central High in Little Rock.
