Updating deers from divorce
I was told not to return home via text and told if I did not sign the papers i would not get my things back, but if I did he would send them to me by the end of the month and would send me enough money to get by until I am on my feet.
Long story short, and to the dismay of everyone (and yes to myself as well) I believed him and signed the papers and sent them back.
I have NO IDEA why my insurance with Tricare stayed on as long as it did but I was waiting and waiting for them to send me the letter of termination and offer to purchase a plan through Continued Health Care Benefit Program and get the certificate of credible coverage as it states in the handbook it would happen... two days ago I purchased refills on my medication, today I went to my rheumatologist who had been pre authorized (thankgod) and when i went to get my prescription... I am at a complete loss and there is no way to get insurance with pre existing conditions. When DEERS is updated with the divorce decree (even if its a month or years later) your eligibility ends that day. The COCC comes from DMDC/DEERS in Seaside, CA(former Ft. You can send in a request for one, but usually the system generates one on its own.
If you have used Tricare since the day the divorce is final, there is a possibility that you may be receiving a bill for those services. Hate it for you but being married to someone in the military isn't the same as being adopted.

I am a ex-military spouse that just got through the divorce. The situation is this: I rely heavily on my medical insurance due to the fact I have fibromyalgia and am still being treated for unknown causes of seizures, therefore I take quite a few meds.Benefits are for spouses, not former spouses....(death is treated different than divorce) Check with your county's department of health and human services...
